Heh, all the same stuff M is just earlier in the alphabet than R (and a helluva lot more expensive
)
Which flavor of M has pulled you from the clan of the R? I hope it's the coupe, i love those things

It is indeed the MCoupe. It is a 1999 black coupe with only 11k miles. Garaged for most of its life.
I am going to move my bed into the garage and sleep next to it.
240 horses, 231 torque 0-60 5.1 seconds mmmmmm........5.1 seconds *drool* (by 9 out of 10 reviews anyway, motor trend has it at 5.4 I think) A perfect 50/50 weight ratio.
And yes the new ones have 315? 320? horses, but hey, I`ll just trade up for a used 2001 in a few years.

Good luck Jeff with your new...hatchback.
If you wanted to build a hybrid hatch I could've helped you with that.
This car is FLAWLESS. I can vouch for the Black Dragon. It's never been raced...unlike the 9962 miles on my R. haha. Mine's still faster though because it's yellow.

Welcome to the Yuppie world!
j/k... wish the guy good luck w/ his new hatch.
Black Dragom: I've been debating selling my R as well for a 2000 M Coupe. I may check out the car this weekend. I love the M coupe's design. Stick in a dinan or turner motorsports SC and 0-60 in the mid 4s.
Just make sure that the car hasn't been "run wrong." I have had 2 friends get burned by getting 2nd hand M Powered Cars. You will find that M parts are much more then OEM Honda. Good luck. The two cars my friends got burned by were M Roadster 99, M3 96. They went in to the dealer for maintance, came out with 5,000 plus bills.
1999/2000 M Coupes have depreciated a lot in the last year. Low mileage ones can now be had for under $30k.
I have briefly thought about getting one myself - however, BMWs (despite their reputation) are nowhere near as reliable as Hondas and parts are outrageously expensive. Hell, even regular maintenance is expensive - try $1000+ for a 50k service (assuming several things don't have to be replaced).

norice: As long as you get a relatively new BMW, you get free 4 yr maintenance. I'm not sure what yr this policy started with, but I know it began at the latest 1999.

It was previously owned by some old guy who traded it in for the new Lexus convertible. I doubt this guy ever drove it over 65. BUT, you never know.
As for the getting burned I think anyone runs that risk buying any used car no matter how thouroughly it has been checked out before hand. I also think people run that risk buying a NEW car. **** happens, just when it happens to a BMW it`s more costly thus inflating the **** factor.
I am concerned about the maintenance cost, but it will be worth it when I pull up next to an ITR (yellow dragon hehe) and accelerate off the line so quickly that the ITR is actually warped back into time.
There`s a year left on the warranty and I may get an extended warranty.
Kelleys blue book has the private party value at 34,770. So if the value has depreciated more than this someone might want to drop Kelley a note so he updates his web site.
Now quit trying to burst my bubble you ricers!!

I have seen several higher mileage (~50k or so) ones for ~25k or so.
- I`m gonna do a little more searching here myself.

There a few 1999s here less than $30k with 30k or so miles. I have seen several on other sites in that range, many with fewer miles. Many people are still *asking* the Kelly Blue Book price but I think they are dreaming. (Like the 2000 Type-R owners asking $25k.)
Also have a look ath the classifieds on cars.com. Lots for sale there. One for $29k with 20k miles. (You will have to look under Z3 when searching and then sort by model.)
Less than $30k for a 1999 with 11k miles is a good deal.
