Security Code for OEM CD player
I was wondering what the Security code for a 99 OEM honda cd player was for. I havent gotten around to installing it, but I was wondering how I use it, and why i need to use it. Any help would be great. Thanks.
each deck has it's own code. You need to get the original owners manual that has a card that came with it i think. that card has the code. otherwise, i think you can go to the dealership and show them legal documentation (maybe) that you bought it and they'll give you the code.
yes... like right after... hahaha, it wont start without it. it will blink the words "CODE" i believe. during this time you need to enter the numbers in the player using the buttons on it. pretty much if it says "1-2-3-4-5-6" then you press "1-2-3-4-5-6" and you are magically done

electric-boost, the security code is nowhere to be found on my vehicle or in the materials I received from the dealership. The dealership couldn't find it or retrieve the code from their computer because I never took it there for service (too far from home and work). And after luring me into their shop with the promise of satisfaction, they wanted to charge me $96 to pull the radio to get the s/n. Unhappy with that, I just paid $4 on-line for the instructions to do-it-myself. Took me 20 minutes start-to-finish and I've never worked on a car or machinery before. But I don't know how to get the code, given the s/n. I do not want to go back to that dealership. Maybe another dealership can do it, though, but I suspect another charge will be asked... and IMHO Honda doesn't deserve it.
thats weird, my friend who happens to be on this site has a 97 accord and we ran into the same problem after putting a new battery in and we called our friend that works at a honda dealership and he said he didnt have to look it up cause it was on the underside of the trunk to the left of the vin number and sure enough it was there. I will ask him if he can get you the code and if he says yeah then you can pm me your info
From what I've learned reading on the www, the manufacturer supposedly provides Honda dealers with two credit-card sized cards with the security code on them. The dealer is supposed to give one of these cards to the customer. (What happened to the second card, I do not know, the dealership hasn't mentioned one). I didn't get a card with my '98 Accord EX. People say either the card or the number are stashed in one of various places, like the glove box, under the ash tray that's beneath the sunroof control, in the trunk, written on a door jam, written in the owner's manual, etc. I've searched my vehicle thoroughly and repeatedly. The shop manager at the dealership where I bought the car didn't find it either, although he said I should have received a card in my ownership materials. He said the security code would have been on their computer if I had had it in their shop within the last 2 years. But they're located so far away from my home and work, I have never taken it there for service.
