Default AUTO. TRANS. HELP PLEASE!

Just picked up a '91 hatch with a auto tranny that wont shift to gears while in drive. I want to know if there is a quick fix to this so I can drive it in the mean time until I can round up the funds for the manual conversion and swap.

So far there is a leak in the tranny line going into the radiator which Im gonna fix this weekend. I don't much about these auto. trannys since im used to my last car a 96 gsr. The solenoid that looks like a vtec solenoid mounted on top of the tranny, could that cause this?

Or is the tranny toast when this happens? Hoping maybe something I can fix so I can drive the car. If not I guess the car will sit until I do the swap on it. If your wondering why I got an auto. I got the car next to nothing.

thanks in advance

i dont know how to fixs autos but i kind of know how they work and that leak could be a big part of the problem and if it is leaking it could cost $500 to fix cuz autos are a pain in the ***

It's just leaking from a rubber transmission line not from the tranny itself, but Im not sure if that may have something to do with it not shifting staying only in 1st while in drive. Damn auto. frustrating the hell out of me.

I'd say almost 100% your trans is fucked.

you can try a flush, but i bet that **** is dead.
