Sound system for a 95 accord
What up fellas? I was wondeirng how bad a 12" inch sub would rattle in my car. I realize that it will rattle a little bit no matter what ,but i dont really want that much rattle. Also i didnt really want to put it in my trunk, so i was thinking of putting the sub under my passenger seat ,but im not sure if it will fit. Then i have to find a spot for my amp. If you guys have any thoughts or ideas let me know.
Thank you
Thank you
first off do some research on how speakers work and in general woofer box design, ect....speakers need to move air in order to operate....how much space do you have under your passenger seat in your 5th gen? mine...not a whole hell of a lot. i had 2 12's and it didnt rattle as bad as i thought it would.....unless you turn your cd player full open... if you just want some nice bass....get a nice set of 6x9s and put them in the back deck, or hell, fiberglass up a custom kick panel and stick some 8's in there
do your research because each part of the sound system is key...you dont just throw in some cheap *** amp and a random speaker and expect it to work....match your speaker and amp up...you know....good luck man

yeah do the research. Look at JL Audio. They make awesome stuff. That have different custom boxes to fit in the trunk. I have a 10w7 and 500/1 amp that take up most of my trunk in my 95 accord. That little 10 hits so hard, but they also make different grades of subs as well as even 8" ones. JL is top of the line stuff
just remember that because it costs more doesnt mean its better. know what speakers are made of....know how they function....by learning this....you could save money by going with a no name with a quality speaker versus paying $300 for a woofer just for the bling effect.
Bose wave radio speakers are ultra small and use a paper cone...if you've ever heard one then you know it sounds good. so its not all about the speaker...it's also the power you're putting do it and the box.
good luck

I had Alpine Type R's and they sounded good, but they were extra useless weight, so I sold 'em

JL is good, Polk is good, High end Sony's are decent (ES models) as are alpines. </TD></TR></TABLE>
Uh.... Alpine is better then both Polk and JL
I don't really care either way though, because I'd much rather spend my money on go

I have installed a dual 12" enclosure in my 95 Accord LX and i put two 12" jensen 500W subs, a sony Xplode xm-2252HX amplifier and a 2 farad cap.
I have also installed two 6x9 sony xplode speakers (to replace the stock rear speakers) powered by a jensen xa-2250 500W amplifier.
I would just like to say that with this setup the car shakes really bad, and the car itself is in very good shape (nothing rattles in normal driving). I think you should not put more than this on an accord because screws and nuts might start falling off.

I actually didn't think that the bass will be so strong....i like bass a lot anyways (personal opinion). Excuse me, but if the idea of car shaking bass is retarded then i have seen a LOT of retared people on the street. My setup is just because i wanted to make a Hi-fi sound system in my car...not because i want everyone to know i stopped at the traffic light.
Jensen is not the best but i really think it's the best bang for your buck. I use that amp on high crossover for the 6x9 speakers.

(my opinion also, but still...)
one 12" sub is plenty... unless you want the trunk rattling so much that you can hear the license plate rattle off from 5 miles away. what's the good of all that bass, if you can't hear the rest of the music? every component of your system is crucial to the quality of sound. get a quality deck... quality amp... quality mid's and high's, quality sub. i'm not saying you have to spend a shitload of money, but the saying is true... "you get what you pay for."

Exactly. I grant some people have numerous sub's and equipment to that effect but I don't see the point if it overshadows the rest of the music. Now if you do this for pro competion, like IASCA or something that's one thing. But to do it to be hear while your driving around town is retarded IMO. I should have clarified what I meant earlier.

Guys, i really think i was very misunderstood. I just tried to answer the simple question of this thread, and that was....how much bass can the accord take...so i said that two 12" subs are too much.
Also, i would like to make a few statements:
a) I do not play my sound system loud except when i'm on the freeway and i know i don't bug anyone. I concur with the idea that installing big subs in your car just to shake the surrounding people is purely retarded.
b) i have built a very balanced sound system in my car where all the frequencies are hearable at any volume. I really think it's stupid throwing some big subs in your trunk if your medium and highs cannot keep up. That's not Hi-fi and i think it is annoying after a very short while.
c) i really like having this sound system because when i sometimes work night shifts i pull my car in the plant, throw the battery charger on it and play music in the whole plant (kinda like my own disco)
I have built this sound system just because i like listening to music in the car and to show my friends what i can do with limited funds.

what i said was more to a general audience, and not you specifically. sorry for the misunderstanding.... i was thinking about those bass junkies out there that might read this, hoping that they might "see the light".
but to answer your question, 1 12" sub shouldn't rattle your car that much at all, considering your listening preferences.
