Default 91 Accord burns oil very weird.....

hi i just purchased a 91 honda accord lx that burned oil in only one cylender then #2 i think.... 2nd from right when standing facing engine,, apon inspection i thought it would be a blown head gasket, easy fix, i get into the engine and i find it is not the head gasket, it looks great but the one problem cylender has oil every where, above the valves and burned on all in the cylender so i dont think its rings but have suspitions of cracked head, but head checked out ok, vavle seals looked good, i have no idea what to check next if any of you honda guy have any suggestions i would really appreciate it thanks

well the most basic thing to do is do a compression check...that'll narrow the problem down

edit: if the head is good...then i would think it would have to be the rings....oil can only come from so many places, but do a compression check ASAP

I have a 91 lx as well and it also burns oil. When we bought the car, the previous owner said it would take about $2500 to fix so we never bothered. If your car has the same problem mine has, you might be better off just keeping some spare oil in the trunk. I don't know what this will do to the engine performance wise, but after about two years of ownership, my car still runs fine. Keep in mind that if the problem is going to cost you over $750, you can get an f22b1 for that price. If you figure out what the problem is, post it here. I'd still like to fix mine if its not going to be too much of a hassle.
