Default Purpose of 6mm rotor retaining screws?

Whats the purpose of these soft screws? Had a fun time drilling em out. Any imputs? Would the lugs nuts hold the rotors in place?

They are put in to hold the factory rotors on while the car is on the assembly line. Some ppl like em in there so they keep the rotor in place when you take the wheel off. There is no negative to not having them on there, I took them off my 93 gs and put on aftermarket rotors...no issues. HTH

i hate those screws! just leave them out, they're a pain to get out! like NTeg said, they're basically just from when the car was assembled....i havent seen any other cars come w/those stupid screws!

I used an impact screwdriver, best $40 I ever spent, my stock 1997 75k mile rotor screws came off in no time.

Impact Screwdriver! One nice size hit with the hammer and they are loose. Only $25.00 @ sears and well worth it.

You can get them at the dealer cheap if you want. I would leave them off though, their just going to seize up again.
