ecu fuse blowing
ok i got a 98 gs with the following intalled mods that are remotley rellevant: skunk2 itm, autometer a/f gauge and alot of stereo stuff but thats all on its own circuit.
ecu fuse keeps blowing for no apparent reason. it had a 15 amp fuse and i replaced it with a 20 and it still blew so its got to be a short somewhere. there is no cel on. i disconnected the gauge's purple and red wires (still blew with gauge disconnected) red is tapped into radio and purple at ecu. the purple is soldered into the ecu harness and covered with some very heavy duty heat shrink.
intake manifold instalation was simple, all i did was unhook some connectors and i hooked them all back up. it seems to blow (it happened 3 times on the way home today and once yesterday) when i dont give it enough gas on acceleration and the car bogs. i havent looked at schematics yet but i just wanted to know if anyone has experienced this yet. ive had the car for 3 month and this is the first time anything like this has happened.
please help, its sooo frustrating to have your car die in the middle of the road 3 times on the way home from work!!!!!

ahhh the good old ecu fuse blowing
i was in your position last year.
you've got a wire grounding out somewhere
when you put a new fuse back in do you hear any clicking?
theres probably a loose wire somewhere
or the wire is touching on your engine and grounding out on the engine
also check your stereo stuff
the bogging part is probably your spark plugs
or oxygen sensor
well hope this helps
it took me about 20 fuses to figure out where my problem was
it was my nos selanoid touching on the wires for my idle valve controller
the wires melted through on the intake manifold
and started grounding out
one little bump would make the fuse blow
im so glad we have fuses or my ecu would have burnt a long time ago

no clicking is a good thing
that means your harness isn't screwed up yet
so get it fixed soon or your harness will
be burnt out and thats a headache
to find a new one

sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet i found it!!!!!!!!!
the multimeter didnt help cause i never got it to short out. what had happened is when i installed the skunk2 itm the evaporative emmisions control valve had to be moved. there was no hole on the top of the stock itm for it. so i stole a vacuum line from the valve cover one and just used a breather for the vavle cover. to secure the valve i bolted it into the iac vavle on the back of the itm. when the engine torqued it stressed the wires and they pulled out from the sensor (im assuming this cause there was exposed wire) and it hit the brake line mounted on the firewall shorting out the sensor wires. i found it with a mirror when i saw a small amount of pitting on the brake line (thats what happens when you sort something out) and a little bit of exposed wire.
i feel so much better now <-----breathes a sigh of releif
