Default DISAPPOINTED with 1/4 times!!

hey whats up guys I took my car to the track the for the 1st time on 9/25 at Maple Grove Race way for the IDRC event going on. I thought the event really sucked but it was a good opportunity to run my car for the first time and get some experience at the track. I ran a best of 15.5 with a 2.5 60 ft and 92 mph speed. My setup is as follows, 92 GSR with full weight, 2700lbs with me in it. I have a JDM integra type R head complete with cams, ITR intake manifold, CTR bored throttle body. .25 OS CTR pistons in B17a. CTR intake cam, CTR crank pulley. an ECU that is supposed to be JUN spec that I got off Ebay. a ACT clutch with 4 puck, DC headers, AEM CAI. S1 tranny. Some garbage street tires that were at 32 psi. I didnt even know that I would be able to race. I just went to watch and I was told I didnt need a helmet but I would have to pass a tech inspection. I passed and decided to race. I thought I would do alot better but left very disappointed. Car has also never been tuned. Is it me or does this suck?? in everyones opinion, what times you think I should be doing ? any help, criticism and tips are always appreciated. Thanks guys

Your mph is about dead on for your weight & hp. IE ~165whp.

Your 60ft is killing your ET. Drop it to 2.2 or 2.3 and you'll run 14.9-15.2.

Most people running really fast times are running lightened chassis with race weights (including driver) of 2200lbs or less. A 2200lb race weight with 165whp will run in the mid to high 13's.

I was launching at 4k with not so bad wheel spin. I think those crappy tires were killing me. PLus I dont have my YS1 any more and I am dealing with gears that are not as short. So you guys think this is an ok time for my setup? Im sure I can maybe go down a bit with some good tuning. My car is not tuned at all

Falken Azenis for the street

Slicks ONLY for the track.

If you can get that 60' down to 1.9-2.0(on slicks) you will have yourself a low 14 sec. car. Get the slicks and you will never want to run street tires again. Trust me my bone stock b18b runs 14.50's

I raced on street tires at full psi. When I buy slicks what size do I need to get? and do they come with rims as well or are those purchased seperately?

22 or 23 inch.

I suggest MT 22x8x15. They run about 140 usd per tire. You'll need rims.

When running street tires drop your pressure to ~28psi. A good 60ft time on street tires is 2.2-2.3 as per my first message.

Good luck.

yeah, you should defenetely try lowering your 60's
but i still think trapping at 92 is low

Your trap is fine for your weight and hp. 15.5 is ussually 88-89 mph.

For the rest; slicks and rims do some research. Or send me a cheque for my time.

bring the 60 ft down the times will drop basic rule of thumb ever .1 you shve off your 60 ft is worth approx .2 on the big end ex: 14.5 w/2.5 60 ft = 2.2 60ft 13.9-14.0

I got 14 runs in plus the first round which i lost, red light! i saw you hangin out around your car towards the end of the day i had a turbo PY rex, u were prolly talkin to a friend of mine that went with me to the event, chad. but yea anyway i was also dissappointed with my times.

honestly, hardly anyone gets great times the first couple times they take their car to the track. i mean, if you did then what else would there be to do?

dont be discouraged man, just practive and get your 60' better like alot of other ppl are saying - thats crucial.
