Default Manley Forged Pistons in Stock H22 Sleeves

Ok,

In the new honda tuning magazine. I think they are called Manley. THey are showing a set of pistons for the H22 motor. And from what it says. it sounds like they made the pistons out of the material that its needs to be to make them work on a h22 without sleeving.

Now what my question is. How strong are the stock h22 cylinder walls. Lets say i buy those pistons if they can work on stock walls. Do you think that the h22 cylinder walls are strong enough to hold 400 hp?

I know people like to sleeve a h22 once trying to go over 10 lbs of boost, but i just figued that is maybe because you cant use a forged piston on the walls, but if they pistons can work, will the walls hold out.

no

i would sleeve if i got over 220whp if it was me....

Least they arent girly pistons...

Btw...do yourself a favor...if you are talking about running 400 HP, (how?) why are you talking about trying to skimp on things like pistons and not sleeving, you will be walking down a very slippery road, Do it right the first time so you dont have to do it 4-5 times, or blow your motor and warp the cylinder walls.

I have a civic but i was thinking about swapping a H22 into the car. Right now i have a drag turbo kit on the motor, adn the B series cylinder walls are good for like 400 hp, so i am just trying to see how much different the h is from the b. For me to make my decision

This question runs into circular logic...people using stock sleeves will blow the ringlands on their pistons before they crack the cylinder walls. Since no after market piston has lasted in an FRM block you can test the walls for boost limits.

The highest is around 300ish whp by Firedrake on stock pistons with AMAZING tuning.

Thats exactly what i am trying to figure out. People say the motor is only good to around 300hp, but thats with stock pistons. And like you said the ringlands go before cracking a sleeve. Not sure if i will be the one to find out the strength of the cylinder walls. But if i decide to do the h22 in my civic , i will keep you all posted on how it goes.
