Default CRX ball joint

Alright, I do not know the name of that part that I am trying to get. It is the lower ball joint that you have to get undone when taking out your axles. I ripped last night with the Ball Joint Pry Bar and need to have it/them replaced.

Are there any upgraded ball joints that I can get or should I stay OEM? Also what other JOINTS or bushings should I replace while doing this. I may as well replace all the bushing since I have to have the two BALL JOINTS pessed in. So everything that needs to be pessed in I am down with doing. I just do not know what all can be done.

90 CRX HF with B16A1
Current Suspension
Skunk2 Coilvers, Totiko Lumi Shocks, Camber Kit, Front Upper Sturt Brace, Rear Upper and Lower Strut Brace.

Thanks guys and gals

i say stick w/ oem or autozone/oreilly lifetime warranty ball joints. if you have alot of miles you may as well replace the upper ball joints and tierod ends while your at it.

LCA bushings is up to you.

Are you replacing the ball joint on the underside of the spidle? The one that goes stright down behind the rotor that attaches the lower control arm to the spindle? You don't need to have those pressed in... or at least I didn't.

I got the old ones out by putting a ball peen hammer on the top side of the joint and putting a large socket over the threaded part of the joint and resting up on the ball part. I pounded the balljoint out. I then just pounded the new one in with a hammer and put new boots on. If only your boot is ripped, just replace the boot.

I wish I could draw this so it makes more sense, but it was really easy.

so I can just replace the boot instead of the whole ball joint? I will call Honda tomorrow!

Does the HELM manual show how to get all these ball joints and bushings out and in? I have only used my BIBLE for motor things.

THANKS for all of the help thusfar!

I'm not sure about HELMS. I just happened to run in to a guy who had done it before. I almost forgot though, there is a spring clip that holds the balljoint it. That has to come off first if you do opt to replace the joint. The boots just go on with a cheap springy wire that wraps around them. The boots are replaceable. Grease it up good!

do you think it needs replaced? The boot is just ripped? Just go to HONDA and they should have them right? Is it called the ball joint boot from the front spindle

If the joint is loose feeling, it should be replaced. If there is still 'wet' grease in there, and the joint moves, but is firm, then just replace the boot. Just tell them you need a front lower balljoint boot. I'm not sure if they sell them like that though. I, shamefully, reused one from another spindle that I had laying around.
