Default shock replacement along with rules staying in "stock" classes in auto-x

If I have read the rules correctly, you can replace the shocks only, not the springs, they must remain factory? If this is correct, would buying Koni Yellow's which have the adjustable perch, putting it at its lowest setting (about an 1" drop) and using the stock springs be legal under the rules? Anyone ever done this?

No, you have to put them on the stock perch.

I'd still be willing to bet you'd be right on top of me with just the yellows at stock ride height. I've got to get a swaybar on the back of this thing and get this seat fixed...

You're welcome.

13.5.A.3: Adjustable spring perches are allowed, but the spring load-bearing surface must be in the same location relative to the shock mounting points as on the standard part. Shims may be used to achieve compliance.

This is something that we are extremely particular about is getting the Koni spring seats to the exact millemeter measurement as stock for stock class autocross. No other class that we know of in the world is that particular in a category that allows shocks to be changed so making sure that European developed parts are dead on stock in critical. As mentioned above, you cannot move a stock shaped perch to a different location but you can use a threaded body shock so long as the perch is in exactly the same location as stock.

Oddly enough, there is no stated stock ride height requirement with SCCA stock class. The perch must be stock and the spring and other parts must be stock so they just figure that the sum of all those things will give a stock ride height. But if you can take the gas out of an otherwise gassed shocks whcih lightly boost the ride height, the car will sit a touch lower and may get a tad more negative camber...all legally.

so what if you use the stock springs and modify them. Maybe cut a little off? I'd assume that would be illegal, but maybe not, you never know.
