Default Need some advice on a BIG problem.

Okay so the other day i was trying to show off my new zex nitrous system to my friends. I think that i made a big mistake by peeling out while shooting the zex for like a minute. After impressing my friends by it, shortly afterwards, my car lost dramatic horsepower and started to make a knocking sound at the engine.

I love my integra, having this happen to me made me real upset. I took it to a mechanic the other day just so that he could tell me that i basically have shot my engine dead. It still runs but he said (in dummy terms, which is me) messed up my piston on the right and shaved down the cylinder head which fried my spark plug that was there. That's not exactly how he said it, but that's what i recall. All i know is that when i accelarate, my car shakes real bad and the rpm's are never steady anymore.

So here is my question. Do you indeed think that this engine is worth repairing (94 Ls 140k miles) from the little bit that i've told you that's happened to it? Or do i really have to get a whooollleeeee new engine in it! All my paychecks have been going towards my car and it's hard for me to keep doing this. Any ideas as to what has happened? Thanks for reading, i appreciate it.

I'd get it rebuilt with better parts... It'll be stronger than the original engine

There's nothing wrong with peeling out on nitrous. . . just don't hit the rev limiter

hmm, someone needs to come up with an answer for the guy, and leave him the hell alone, at least he admited to the problem and learned from it, and is now going to fix the problem. some of us learn the hard way, and some of us dont. its just a process of life.

i say have the block checked out, get it blueprinted, get your cyl's honed and maybe some oversized pistons.. then save up for some boost.

dont go gsr and boost, just stick with what you got, and rebuild, then go back and show off to your friends with a newly boosted teggy. they'll never know what hit them

WOW someone that's actually helpfull. That's hard to come by. Thanks for your reply, i'm just afraid that the amount of money i spend on doing this stuff (blueprinted, new parts) won't be worth fixing if the actual engine life isn't gonna last me any longer. I'm gonna shop around and look at my options. I just wanted some ideas. So thanks and i'll make a follow up post for my either new and improved Ls or my newly built Gsr (or type-r maybe?) Peace

Sry bout that man . I would say rebuild it and put forged internals in it. And you can spray all you want. Just be carful my buddy lost his auto transmission and it took the motor too. The tranny let go and the engine over reved. Sad day. Good luck buddy. BTW how much nirtos were you runnin? 400 shot..hahaha

It's not like i was revving it hard or anything like that. I was in the process of peeling out, i couldn't catch traction. I did it before and beat a GSX, haha that was sweet **memories**

silence.

teggy4life you can pick up a slightly used LS block for 700, maybe 1000 swapped in. or you could just rebuild your engine, which will allow you to spray even more

k20 is a damn good option but an exepnsive option. best thign to do is find out wut exactly is wrong pull the head is ur best bet find. u wanna know if ur valves or gone or the pistons are gone. if u rebuild ur motor go lsvtec with itr pistons.

Just because I'm curious...what heat range plugs were you running and what was the electrode made of? If you say platinum, let the newbie bashing commence.

Was your timing retarded a few degrees?

were you bouncing off of the rev limiter?

i would stay away from lsvtec.. not that many people know how to make them reliable. if you want vtec, do it right and get a b18c engine.. or b16 engine.. dont get the damn vtec head and swap it on... especially if you go turbo, you'll run into a world of problems.

i say stick with ls nonvtec engines and boost the hell out of it. trust me, you'll love it.

if your afraid of your shortblock, then just go buy another one, and have it blueprinted, forged internals, balanced crank or a gsr/itr crank.. some good cam's and a good valve job.. then boost.. you'll be makin 300+ whp easily

What the hell does a tranny swap have to do with anything?

And, I think you should just rebuild the motor stronger than before. Then boost the hell out of it, and screw nitrous.

keep the teg, just rebuild the engine and turbo charge it instead.

if you want to show off to your friends, a hissing and wheezing turbocharged burnout is the way to go man.

Your cheapest route would be to just swap out your engine... here's a B18B + tranny with 63K miles for $500.
