Default this is a turbo question for a gsr

Ok i was gunna get je 9:1 or 9.5:1 comp pistons, with eagle h beam rods and benson sleaves. Ok well i have a friend that is good with cars he told me he wouldnt bother replacing the pistons and rods because the stock pistons are flat and ar eonly 10:1 so there fine. He also said teh rods are fine. now i plain on boosting 12-15 psi daily with a t3/t4e turbo. I will also be having the drivtrain done too, itr cams, vavle springs, vavle retainers, and valves. He said them are good for boosting, i was gunna go with them any way. He gets the itr stuff cheap he works at an acura dealership. so my question is will the stock pistons and rods be fine, or would they not work under 15psi?

there are a couple of things..... the stock pistons and rods will take the beating in strength but they will fatgue in the long run so they wont be good for dalily driving. The cams that you got are not good for turbo....the itr cams have too high of a durration and have overlap that will cause the bost to excape out the exhaust valves when they are open as the intake valves are open at the same time. I would just go with the 9.5 to 1 compression pistons and i would upgrade the rods as well so there isnt any problem reving the motor especially with the type r valve springs and retainers.. good luck

those cams are fine acually they are good. I keep hearing people say they have to much overlap but who know's this for sure or do you just hear that on the net. I call a shop called In-line pro who deals with more turbo honda's-and Acura's then I know and talk to a guy about it he said that alot of people think type r cams are no good but he said he tunes car on the regular and that the type r cams made more power then the gsr cams with the turbo. So do what ya want if they are already in keep in and get your car dyno tuned. here is a link to INLINE-PRO in va

http://www.inlinepro.com/
give them a call and let them tell ya

ITR cams are great, as long as your tuner is competent enough to take advantage of them.

And your friend is completely wrong....youre sleeving the motor which to me screams "I want power." Leaving the stock pistons/rods would be more than stupid for your desires. They'll work, but you wont be able to make as much power as you would with good forged pistons/rods, and they will not last as long either. 15PSI from a decent size turbo generates a lot of air...the stock pistons/rods will not be able to take the abuse from combustion as forged pieces would.
