Well it depends how picky you want. I could say there's too much heat at the right end, pretty obvious that. Kinda odd, usually poeple's welds get wider as they go along because they forget to let off the pedal as the metal heats up. His get narrower. OTOH it's not great but not terrible. Looks like a beginning welder... is he? Not dissing him... it's how my welds look...

Commenting on someone elses welds is like asking how someone's driving is. It's very subjective and easy to criticize yet most people still get to where they're going...

looks fine, but if you are testing him to see how good he welds then make him weld a piece of tubing!

I'd say it looks a little bit too hot and very rushed
If it was very hot it would look like a grey blob of goo. That isn't that bad. I've seen/done worse

You can see the weld on the other side isn't even. he starts out hot, then goes cold, then hot again, levels off, then hot again at the end (right to left). Lets hope he backpurges your manifold with hot welding like that

Yes in the begining i was runnin alil to hot. The bead was fat on the begining cuz there was a gap in between the piece. You c around half way my welds god better as I corrected the heat. Look at the color. Mostly gold all the way thru. For stainless gold is the optimum color. This is my first bead ever on ss. May not look all that pretty but sure meets AWS codes.

they look alright but not something i would pay for, it would be alright if it was a friend doing it for you not trying to get down on it but i wouldnt pay for that. Why are u using such heavy pipe for, ss is a strong metal dont need to b that thick.

so your saying thin material, like an ssautochrome mani, would be better than what he is using for my mani? the welds "look" good on the ssautochrome manis, but there crappy quality..im not sure what ur trying to say. i would think thicker, and stronger material would=a stronger, less likely to crack manifold..i wonder what your manifold looks like??

It doesn't look that bad, but the guy needs a lot of practice. And welding pipe is A LOT different than welding a flat piece of stainless.

Good luck!
