Default Should I get a 98-02 4cyl 5spd. accord or a V6cyl automatic ? What is better ?

I would like your opions please . I am refering to the coupe only . I was thinking that the 4cyl would be just as fast in the 0-60 because the v6 would weigh more and I would lose more power through the drivetrain with having a automatic . is this true ? Were is a good site to get 6th gen accord info/specs ? What are the advantages and disavatages of the two ? Thank you for you help.

6th gen auto accords had major tranny issues, go with the manual (and go with a 4th gen too instead...)

I want a 6th gen . I prefer the look of the rear end on those cars . Where can I get some specs and stuff for that model ? ie: 0-60 , top speed, wieght etc . ? How much slower is the 6th gen 5spd 4 cyl. than if I go with the V6 auto ? Will I notice a big diff ?

If you are going by looks then why should it matter. THe younger teh gen the lighter the car for the Accord. The 5th gen just has the best of both worlds so far, IMO. The 6th gen V6 is not that much faster than a 4 cyl. I have some bolt ons on my 6thg en v6 and only run mid 16's. A 4cyl with the basic bolt ons can get low 16's. It all depends on driver though. If you weigh the two on performace from mods, the 4 cyl with mods is better off than the v6. The v6 feels faster cuz more torque but its not. If only there was a cheap turbo kit(or one at all) for our V6's......................that would be life.

It matters because of gas millage , performace too . I don't want to get a 4cyl if If it going to be that much slower than a V6 . what are some 0-60 times of the two. Stock cars if possible .
Does the 4cyl handle better since it must weigh less . Since the 4cyl engine probably wieghs less and the 5spd in it will also weigh less than a auto tranny would right ?

Well im not in anyway beign biased cuz i have owned a 4 cyl. and now the v6. I wish that i could go back to the 4cyl but i like the V6 cuz of the features and thats about it. The 4cyl stock will run slower but not by that much. I dont know off hand but the 4 cyl should be like high 16's low 17's and the v6 will be like low-mid16's. After you mod the 4 cyl.(simple bolt ons) though it will be running right along with the v6 with bolt i/e.

The times all depends on the DRIVER though.

Are you going to modify the engine at all or just looks? If so is it going to be anything major? If not get the V6 that's just my opinion though I'm no expert. Why not get a '04 V6 coupe 5spd?

Thanks for the info . I will probably get the 4cyl since gas millage , insurance and overall cost of car will be cheaper , and its a 5spd , and since the 0-60 and 1/4mile times are fairly close it will not be a sacrafice in performance .

BTW- I will be mod. the engine. nothin big just a CAI , catback exhaust , and maybe some plugs and wires .
Does anyone have any good suggestions for me to do first ? Modification wise that is .

5th gen
1994 Honda Accord EX 9.3 17.1
1994 Honda Accord EX Coupe 9.2 16.9
1995 Honda Accord LX 8.5 16.5
1995 Honda Accord LX V-6 9.1 17.1
1996 Honda Accord EX V-6 8.8 16.8

So 5th gen LX is faster and than EX Vtec?
What happen to Vtec power?

I couldn't have said it better myself.

I owned a 6th gen, EX, V6. It's basically a big, heavy, luxury car. If that's what you want, go for it. After driving my new 4th gen for a couple days. the 6th gen felt like a battleship. (God I love 3rd and 4th gens)

Because the EX has a heavy sunroof and leather seats and a bunch more stuff that weights alot...

Go 5th Gen LX's!

how much time if any can be cut off if your driving a manuel? does it really have any significance? I have a 6th gen 4cyl auto.

use honda plugwires. honda ignitions can support around 500hp.
waste of money unless your gonna boost or spray and need a ign retard.

So does the 4cyl. engine respond better to mods ? I figure on going with the 4cyl since I can buy the car for cheaper and then use the money I saved for mods to help the HP loss compared to the V6 .
