Default HOW-TO?-Alarm installed, use OEM lock actuators.

1992 Civic Si
No power locks.

Installed alarm with keyless entry.

I have it working with actuators from company x, BUT would like to know if I could use OEM power lock actuators. I do not want to install the door switches or lock/unlock *****, just the actuators.

If I can, how would the functionality be, meaning would the following stay the same: Keyless entry? Key entry? Interior locking/unlocking?

Thanks!

i installed car alarms for a couple years at my last job.. ive never done this but from experiance i do not think that it would work.. its worth a shot. also w/ oem door locks there is a control box inside the door.. if you found out what wires needed power and ground then you might be able to get it working

Well I would hate to dish out 60+ bux a piece for an experiment, you know of a place besides local salvage or ebay, for some used actuators?

nope.. just got w/ a good set of aftermarket actuators and you will be fine.. you will not need to install any switches or ***** or anything for actuators to work..

Back up from the dead, I just bought 2 OEM door lock actuators from a salvage yard, Has anybody hooked these up with their existing keyless entry/alarm and got these to work? Do i need the OEM door lock control box? thanks

Just listen to sponge bob.

I install alarms and keyless entries every day. On Honda/Acura, it's a two wire setup just like it is with actuators.

Why would you prefer OEM over aftermarket actuators? Are the actuators hitting too hard? There are heavy duty and regular actuators.

Just wanted to second some diff. input that's all.

I had aftermarket actuators and they did hit too hard, and chipped my lock tabs.

I prefer OEM b/c they actually have a designated mounting area on the lock as oppsed to the ghetto job the previous owner used to mount the aftermarket actuators.

But to stay on topic, nice to know that the OEM actuators can be wired up to the keyless entry relays.

yeah it works. thats what ive got in my hatch. oem actuators with 3 oem screws to hold them to the existing door latch. hooked the wires to the wires from my alarm door lock relays. works like a champ and 150 times quieter than the aftermarket actuators I had in there to start with. on the drivers door actuator you will have to extra wires that you dont use. they come from the switch thats built in to the actuator for locking the passenger door at the same time as the drivers door from the lock tab or the key cylinder. if you want to use these you hook thewires to the wires that trigger your door lock relays(neg. trigger) in conjuction with your alarm door lock wires.(be sure to diode isolate if you do this) I also have oem power windows and switches, installed and working without any oem wiring. It all runs through a dei 530t window automation system. if you decide you want windows I feel as if this is the easy route. anyway hope this helps.

iam a alarm tech ,, your best bet is to use your aftermarket actuator. ]
cause oem honda use a door lock ,module. also it has to be wired in a 5 wire rest.. sounds krazy but true
