well basically i bought a new cd player and went to install it (i dont know anything) when i took off the face brackets i found that the original owner cut the original harness and im pretty sure i got everything in place, doesnt sound to great though wanted to know if anyone can tell me which wire is which (1999 civic hatchback DX) also do i have to take out the center console in order to put in a new face kit (the one that holds the HU in place)?

Make sure your speakers are in phase. Otherwise, you'll have no bass response.

Also, no, you don't need to remove the center part of the dash to install the dash kit. It should snap right in.
