Tranny or LSD Problem when Turning at High RPM's?
I have a GSR w/ a JDM GSR swap that came with a Kaaz LSD. The problem(although maybe it isnt one) is when I'm taking a hard turn at around 7000+ RPM's in second gear. There is a strange sporatic but frequent (does it randomly maybe 6 times a second) grind that I hear coming from the front of the car. I'm not sure what it is or if the problem is only in second gear, but I've never had the ***** to take a turn really hard in third gear at 8000 RPM's. I just went out to make sure the LSD still worked (I heard Kaaz' fail over time) and made 2 strips on some gravel so its working good at least for launches. Anybody know anything about this?
I'm not sure because I bought the car not too long ago and the guy before me changed it recently. He said he put in "Redline" oil. I know thats good stuff, but I dont know if they make it in the right viscosity. I searched for all threads made by him before I bought the car from him and I found that about a year back he made a thread asking what kind of oil to use so I'd assume he followed everyones advice because after talking with him before buying the car I got a feel for him and he was pretty finicky about proper maintenance and stuff like that.
I was just reading about this the other day on their site:
http://www.kaazusa.com/inc/content_faq.asp#noise
They say usually the noise related to chattering on their LSD is during low speed turns, like in parking lots - which would probably be under low-RPMs. They do show the proper break-in method, and even though yours isn't new you might want to try it. They also suggest running Kaaz Powertrain Gear Oil.
To me, it doesn't sound like it's an LSD issue (at least the typical Kaaz problems with noise)
Good luck!
