Default A simple question (ok, 2 questions)...

1.) Seeing that all of our cars are pre-'92....do you think your Honda will ever be a classic?

2.) Why do you stick with your Honda when after all the money you invested to keep yours running, you could have bought a much newer car?

Just wondering what other people's reasons are...I'll post mine later.

1) I highly doubt an economy car will ever be a "classic". Maybe only to EF enthusiasts but not to the general public.

2) After spending so much time and money into my car, it's more sentimental than anything. It's by no means a "nice" car or "fast", but I love driving it.

1) i consider my car a classic even if most people dont. I cant wait to be older and still have my like 30 year old crx.

2) i build my car the way i want to. me and my crx have major history together. I cant even count how many nights my friends and i have spent working on the car making just right. I try and build it to be faster, stop faster, ride better, look better, and sound better than any newer car. So whats your reason?

1. No
2. I haven't spent that much on it, but parts are always cheaper and they are interchangeable.

1) No and yes. It's not like the Honda's we drive set any mark of revolution in automotive history. I would consider the SiR with the DOHC VTEC somewhat revolutionary... VTEC, y0! So if you happen to own a prestine SiR with 10 miles on the odometer then maybe... and that's a BIG maybe.

2) It's what I got so I'm sticking with it until I'm bored. I couldn't get anything newer unless I saved ever nickle and dime I put into my car. I only spent a few hundred here and there... never a big lump sum all at once. I figure most people build up their cars this way. So with the TOTAL, yeah - coulda bought a newer car.

1) Eventually. heck.. any car from the 50's or 60's is considered a classic. Classic in the technical term means "old".

2) same reason we bought and older car in the first place, cuz these cars kick ***!!

1. Probally not, but it will always be one to me.
2. Because I love the old car rattles, the boxy, but stylish body lines, light weight, great handling characteristics, ability to put any Honda engine in easily.

1. Yes, I think so. Perhaps not EF's in general but certainly CRX's. Lately, CRX's have become a hot commodity for those looking for a cheap project car. Since most are modded, I think a clean stock JDM spec or even USDM spec car could be considered a classic.

2. I'm smart when it comes to what I spend money on. I know the difference between what is needed and what isn't. What needs to be new and what doesn't. This has saved me thousands in modding my BMW M3 and it's the same thing for my CRX. I've only owned it for a couple of months so I haven't spent all that much on it...maybe like $600. I like older cars, cuz i like working on them. Plus i like cheap insurance rates and low registration fees vs a new car.

1. maybe not a classic in the sense of a classic like an old Chevelle; but i know for sure that the CRX is considered a "cult classic." the CRX has a very loyal following and was considered at the time (80's) a car to bring back the 2 seater.

2. the reason i keep my CRX is because i plan on keeping it forever. it will be a collector's car someday. and i havn't spent money to "keep it running." it has run perfect since i have owned it.

In New York (at least) after a certain period of time a car becomes classic and doesn't have to pass emissions anymore. I think the line is the 25 year mark. That'll be a weird day. They'll probably change the law by then, though. hehe.

My guess is that the CRX's will be "classic" by the public... us hatch owners will be overshadowed by the Rexs because of their appeal.
