any idea how hard it is to rebuild B18C?
Sup guys? I was just wondering if any of you guys have any experience in rebuilding a B18C engine. I have the turbo and want to build it stronger so I can take more boost (plus the engine has like 130,000 on it). I was first going to do it the easy way and pay somebody to do it, but the cheapest quote I got was $3,000, and frankly for that much, I'll learn to do it myself and do it with some knowledgeable friends. Just wondering how hard the process is and if you know where I can get some detailed info on doing it. Thanks!
it'll be just as hard/easy as building any other engine. if you can build an engine, you can build a B18C. its easy if you know what you're doing. if you don't know what you're doing and can't get a knowledgable friend to help, don't do it. thats about all there is to it. you just can't say its hard or easy without knowing about the experience of the person performing the work.
For $3000 it's probably just a basic rebuild with stock parts. If you're going through all the trouble of tearing your engine apart, you might as well go all out. Like forge pistons, stronger rods, headgasket, valves, etc. Just get a helms manual and have at it. I did mine a couple of years ago, and it wasn't too bad.
