Default Where to buy...

I need a thicker exhaust header gasket (the one that goes between header and block) the RSR header i just bought has raised lips around each port and around the 9 boltholes and so the OE metal gasket wont work with it. Does anyone know where i can buy a thicker sandwich gasket (the one that compresses when bolted onto the block and so will take the form of the raised ips and still seal the rest of the flange to the block)..for a b-series engine???

Heres a picture of it just so as you all understand what i mean.

Ok i had a look on summit and they have the B-series Mr Gasket gasket which is 1.09mm thick. I just measured the depth of the lip around the ports on the flange and theyre exactly 1mm deep so it would be ideal...BUT I'm presuming that they will be cut out identical to the normal b-series flange and so wont take into account the raised lip on my header...would it be possible to cut the size of the lip out of the gasket? But saying that i dont think it'll be that easy to cut 1mm thick copper nice and evenly without messing up the gasket......badly stuck here...can any one offer any more advice????

Couldnt you have a machine shop mill the surface flat?

Yes that is an option but i'm trying to get a gasket to fit first and if that fails i have a place that will shave the flange flush for me so i can just use an OE gasket.

actually, even if you use the thin oem gasket, you should be fine. as long as the surface is flat end even.

I brought the header and OE gasket to a shop today and they advised against using the thin metal gasket. The guy said it probably would seal ok but due to the high revving nature of the ITR he could see it blowing out within a few weeks....and he said if it was his car he wouldnt use that one as he wouldnt want to have to be taking the header off again to fit a new gasket...so i decided i'd be better off doing it right first time, even if that does mean waiting a while to either get a proper gasket or getting the flange milled.
