Original brake pads
I need to change the brake pads on my 2000 'Lude, base model, but am getting conflicting reports as to what the original pads are made of....Are they in fact ceramic, or are they carbon-metallic...I don't really want to spend the $ for the stock replacements, if I can get something similar for less...Any suggestions?

i believe they're ceramic.
how much cheaper does it get than OE pads? I think they're around for like $35-40 a pair for the fronts.

they have been used but they are pretty much new. only a quater of the pad has been used. i got pics.

My dealer has quoted $54 front and $66 rear...AutoZone has $43 front and $37 rear...for ceramics...I know it's only $10 difference for the fronts, but every little penny....
You think they are ceramic though.....? Then I might as well get the less expensive ones from AutoZone.

Well...what kind of driving do you do?
If you just drive it every day and rarely use the brakes, I would assume you could go with a cheap pad.
But if you plan on doing any kind of spirited driving, do not go cheap. A good rule of thumb is to never skimp on safety equipment.
