CTR pistons on my LS?
been reading the archives and ppl say that this is the 2nd best mod to an all-motor LS, 1st being a b16 tranny......since i already have the tranny, my question is with my compression this high will i pass emissions?

CTR (PCT) pistons in your B18A/B is not a good idea. Your compression will be well over 12:1, and no matter how much tuning you do, pump gas will not be your friend. Your compression ratio doesn't NECESSARILY affect your emissions. Overall, he P30 pistons are your best bet because they give you a good all around compression ratio and no modification is needed to mate them to your PR4 rods. Good luck

I run PCT's in my LS on pump gas. The car runs great. Please don't spread misinformation.
My car is currently untuned, 16 deg ignition timing on 94 octane. I'm ensuring my motor is fully broken in before dyno tuning... so, no, I'm not overly hard on my car right now.. the odd 7500 RPM shift... but nonetheless, I have no major detonation problems and my plugs look great.
The only problem I have with the high compression is a VERY slight ping under load below 2000 RPM. My solution is to not put the motor under load below 2000 RPM.

i just did a little converting of my motor. i took out the stock b18b1, and put in a b18b1 with ctr pistons and a b16 head. my compression is way to high, the motor pings, the car is slower, im disapointed. i think im gonna put the b16 head on my stock ls block. i cant afford to run expensive gas. i should have researched better. this is just my opinion, but i wouldnt use ctr pistons unless you can afford the fuel. just my opinion.
just curious what year car? and what year motor?
b/c i did private nj state inspection and "failed" because i was running a odb1 ecu in a obd2 motor/car.
dam the new emission laws
