ENGINE "SHAKE" WHEN ENGAGING CLUTCH ON 93 ACCORD
hey,
anyone know why this happens. i've got a 93 accord 4d lx with no modifications. about 130 k. clutch has never been changed. anyways, sometimes when i engage the clutch (usually when the engine is cold) in first gear the car begins moving but shaking like ****. i'm giving it plenty of gas, the rpms are around 1500 (so it's not choking) when it's happening. a buddy of mine thinks my motormounts have gone bad. i think i need a new clutch.
what do you think?

its either bad motor mounts or clutch chatter. try to start your car on a hill in 3rd gear and if it stalls out, your clutch is ok, if it starts to rev a little bit and slip that means your clutch is going out.
do a search (google, here) you can repair broken mounts with polyurethane window weld. it comes in a long tube (for a caulking gun). its a very good option since new mounts will be about $100 each. you could probably do all of your mounts for a few hours labor and $30 for the window weld.
at that many miles i would just replace the clutch any way my car seemed to do the same thing i just put a new motor in over the weekend along with a new clutch and it definately made a difference
