Default '92 Si running like crap, after bolt-ons removed...

Hey Everyone,
I'm hoping that some on here will able to assist me. My uncle is selling me his '92 Prelude Si... The car was basically stock. My uncle added an AEM Short Ram Intake, MSD Wires, Denso Spark plugs, and a custom exhaust. Well, before he decided to sell me the car, he started selling the aftermarket parts... So, the car was returned to stock (except for the new exhaust).
I drove the car when the parts were in, and it ran great! There were no problems, it sounded great, ran smooth, idled quietly, and everything... I just test drove it yesterday (after removing the aftermarket parts), and its running like absolute ***!!

Problems:
- The car's power is nearly cut in half
- The idle is ridiculously loud
- The motor is shaking alot in the enginebay
- The acceleration is very choppy
- The car bucks for no reason
- The exhaust sounds like that of a motorcycle
- The idle dips... as if a pistons is mis-firing
- The car smells awful while running... like gasoline
- Once over 3000rpm the car runs better, but still sounds unhealthy

Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated! I still wanna the Prelude, but not running like this...I'm not sure what to do, or how to fix it? What could the possible problems be for restoring stock bolt ons? Thank you all for your time, adn I hope you guys can help me! Thanks again!

Sincerely,
Mark Viera

try pulling the neg. cable off the battery to reset the ECU. Maybe the ECU is running like it had the bolt ons still on???

I'd say double check you timing and that the plug wires are in the correct order...

i agree, since the car is obd1 it really doesnt matter if the ecu is reset. the only mods that could have done anything are the plugs and wires. double check you have the right firing order... it sounds like you are missfiring or something along those lines.

Ya, plugs/wires/timing are the culprits I'm guessing.

Hey everyone,
Thanks for the feedback... I'm going to check the plugs and wires! How will I know if one of the spark plugs is junk? And how do I know what order the wires are supposed to be attached to the distributor cap? I feel like an idiot for asking these kinds of questions, but I honestly don't know! Thanks for your help!

Thanks,
Mark Viera
