Default Well, it's official!! I am finally VTAK'ed.

Wooohooo. I just got back from my rebuilder's shop. He replaced the water pump, manual timing belt tensioner, oil pump, timing belt, the clutch, flywheel, and all of the seals. I've done 80% of the swap though.

Well, today after hooking up all of the hoses. wire harness connectors, etc, I fired up the motor. She started right up!! The motor has sat for over 2 years (I've been the owner of the motor since last Dec. It's been a LONG wait)

The car sounds a lot better. I don't know why but my exhaust sounds deeper. I am not sure if it is because I have a non-leaking downpipe but overall, the car sounds SOOOO much better. I LOVE my Thermal Classic even more. The engine idles really well too.

I ran the wires for VTEC but I still need to hook them up. I tell you what, the wires that CHK4TIX sells is WELL worth it. It makes the install SOOO much easier. I still need to find were two more hoses on the IM go. I need to know where the one that is in the middle of the IM goes, and what hose connects to the round gold part that is mounted to the right side of the IM. Any ideas??

I don't plan on VTECing the car anytime soon until my clutch is broken in. I have a driving event on Oct. 16 and 17 at Summit Point with the Ferrari Club I want to make sure the car is running optimally for the event. I will try VTEC a few days before the event. I can't wait.

I tried to change ALL of the wear issues while the motor was out. I hope I don't have to touch the motor for a few years to come.

I am so excited. The engine bay looks pretty good too. I treated all of the hoses, painted the brackets, and a few other parts too while the motor was out.

Which parts are you talking about? I'm guessing the round gold part you are referring to is #17. (the IAB control)

This thread might help. (Vacumm line diagram)

Post some pics when you get a chance. If possible I want to see the VTEC wires that you got as well.

Thanks for all the support. It was a great learning experience doing most of the work myself. I learned a lot. It also helped having a WIDE variety of tools too and a lift!!

I will take some pics when I finally get the car back and when work slows down (today is the first time I have come into work at 6:30 )

Look forward to pics...

What did you end up doing about connecting the downpipe to your Si exhaust. Or did you replace the whole exhaust?

I'm guessing you mean on the front side of the Intake manifold. The larger hose should be the PCV valve. I wonder.... Hmmmmm. Let me know.

BTW congrats on the install. I know the feeling of having to wait.

I have a new Exedy Race clutch and a Fidanza 8lb flywheel. So far, it feels perfectly fine. I need to drive it some more on the highway and city to get a better feel. I will post back once I do.

Well, all you have to do is have the holes on the header flange elongated away from the pipe. You will see, there is PLENTY of room to do this. My rebuilder used a plasma cutter to do it. It only took him 10 minutes.. Bolted up nicely.

Yes, I am too. I need to wait to break in my clutch but I am affraid to do it too late and then find out that I have a problem with it. I have a driving event with the Ferrari Club in a few weeks. I want to be on top of my game while I am driving around the track with them.

I am going to pick my car up tomorrow. Then I will use it for daily drving to break in the clutch faster..

Finally, I was beginning to think that motor was just going to be sitting there for the rest of century. If you like it now, just wait till you hook up that m4d VT3K.

Well, I just picked up the car and drove it about 30 miles. The H22 seems to have a noticeable difference in the bottomend torque compared to the H23. I know some people said there is a difference, I just never knew it would be that noticeable for a 0.1L difference. I still need to plug in the O2 sensor connector, though. Maybe that is causing some of the loss.

The clutch and flywheel feel great. It actually makes driving easier because the revs drop right where they need to be for the next gear. I am very pleased.

I am going to cover the entire interior of the car with Dynamat, steam clean the carpet and then put back all of the interior this weekend. I will hook up the VTEC wires too.

I already miss the bottomend torque of the H23....and I had a leaking downpipe. Hopefully, VTAK will make up for the loss.

I don't miss it, but my h23 ran like poo anyway

Get that o2 sensor hooked up
