Default 98civicexcoupe......maintainence required color from green now to red.....what does this mean?

i have a 98 honda civic ex coupe and on the speedometer it have some wording that says maintainence requied written on it and there's a small hole that is there and before it was green and now it is red. what does this mean exactly?......i don't have an engine check light or anything like that. someone help!

it means that you have hit roughly 5k miles. it should have turned yellow at around 3k. just tells you to change your oil really, thats what i use mine to guage. after you change your oil, push that little button thingy in there, and it will go back to green. not a big deal. its just a nifty reminder thats all.

on the 98 you have to stick your key in the hole next to the light to reset it.

Change your oil and stick the key in that little hole next to the light.

Don't go by that light for oil changes though. I think it only goes on every 7500 miles. That is honda's "normal" service interval.
