what kind of stick do i need to arc weld ss ?

i have an arc welder..i started welding when i saw my dad weld..he used the 1/8 rods, and it tends to make a big blob of weld...so i went with a smaller stick i think like 1/16 or 1/18 and they actually work pretty good, and u can see a difference on the weld

 

what kind of stainless?
What thickness?

i have no idea...

 

So can you arc weld a stainless steel muffler say 306 grade only mild steel tubing for an exhaust? Any tips?

 

adjust the amp, if ur stick rod melts both pipes lower ur amp until the stick melts the two together without melting two steel

 

do some research on stainless electrodes.
