Anybody drive long distances (over 2 hours) with fixed back bucket race seats? How do you guys feel about riding long distances in seats like these. Im planning on purchasing the buddy clubs because Im small enought to fit in them. But I may have to still use my car as a daily driver for a few more months before I can afford to finance a 2nd car. So is a fixed bucket seat tolerable?

ouch, i wouldn't. for daily driving 2 hours at a time!?!? hope you have a good chiropractor.

 

HEH... I put in cheapo eBay knock-offs into my del Sol and drove 13 hours from Michigan to Boston and then back a week later. Let me tell you, not the most comfortable way to travel, particularly because the head/neck support is not there. My lame-a$$ solution? I got one of those travel pillows that go around your neck. Nice.

Also, watch out for how wide the seat is. Mine is pretty tight on the sides, even thou I'm pretty skinny. Over long distances you get tired of your shoulders being pushed forward.

 

if u trying to get sum type of bucket seats y dont u just get sum that recline. does it have to be buddy club?

I drive from Bellingham to Spokane (5 hours each way) at least once a month....drove 8 hours to central Oregon, many trips for at least 2 hours in my car, and feel great. Sparco Evo 2 seat with no extra padding. I feel more comfortable in this, than I do in my stock seats or my Del Slo's

 

I had an OMP non-reclinable bucket in my hatch and it never bothered me. I use to make the 3 hr. drive to Rochester many times and it was quite comfortable. As long as you're skinny and can fit in them comfortably you'll be ok.

I did more than a few 2+ hour trips in my Sparco Pro2000 and it was so comfortable I was falling asleep.

No clue about Buddy Clubs or knock-off seats without good padding. *shrug*

 

buddy clubs are soo comfy.. i love them

 

i think it sucks to drive 2 hours in a bucket seat.

i rather sit on my stock seats..

but i just switch seats when i go racing, and switch back to stocks...

i used to have sparco speeds in my car and i drove for 6 hours straigh in them..i had no problems..its actually good to be sitting straight up and somewhat uncormfortable when making long trips..it keeps you aware..if you were in a comfortable seat and reclined relaxing there is a good chance your reaction time would be decreased....just my .02...(i sold the sparco speed and picked up recaro's since then)

 

Made a drive from Torrance to San Mateo for a car show. Rode in my Bride Zeta 2 Neos for 7 hours making only 2 stops for gas and food.

 

I have OMP Extras in the rally car... We spend 2 days straight in those suckers... sometimes 60+ minute transits plus 2x 20 minute special stages, rinse, repeat all day. I'd say they are the most comfortable racing seats I've used, but mostly because I find many to be too small and dig into my back. That being said we're ready to get of of them by the end of the day.

I think having a lumbar pillow helps.

I think the biggest things are thus:

1) Get a seat that fits. If it doesn't fit it won't be comfortable.
2) Try to be in shape. The better shape you're in the less **** like this bugs you.
3) Don't be a *****. If you're the type of person that complains about 'road noise', 'ride comfort' or 'air conditioning', even 'sharp edges' etc. you're probably not going to want to go this route.
