question about the b18c5
In Gran Turismo 3 it says that when you read about the Type R, not sure if the whole motor is hand built. The 97s (96-97 in Japan) were hand polished cylinder head ports (not sure if its just the intake side?).

In specific, the assembling of the engine, balancing parts, and porting and polishing need to be done by hand. Amazingly, all Type R engines are built this way.</TD></TR></TABLE>

That article was taken from TOV, (Temple of Vtec). It's a Carboy article which is listed here on TOV:

From what I remember, the 97's were done this way. But for later years there is a discrepancy as to just how much was still hand worked and assembled.

According to the CEO of Spoon Corp., the '96s had the hand port/polish, hand torque of rod bolts, etc. From '97 on, the heads were CNC machined. I was unclear about the continuation of hand tightening some of the bolts. This is from "Type R Legend" DVD by Best Motoring.
