If I want to replace my Valve Cover with an aftermarket one...
u gotta change the valve cover gasket. its comes in a package with the spark plug gaskets too..its really easy to do and relatively cheap. dealer=40. auto parts store like 25.
As long as you're careful removing the gasket, you won't need to. When you put the new valve cover on, apply some high-temp silicone gasket maker and you should be set. I've removed my valve cover 5+ times and haven't needed a new gasket yet. No oil leaks either
dude, i got a type-r cover and gasket set from inlinefour ... the gasket set is 45$ and it has the valve cover gasket, spark gaskets, and polished grommets that look pretty.
well i've taken my vavlve cover off many times, only one time that i thought i had an oil leak so i changed the gaskets. got it from napa for like 45 bucks and they didn't even come with the rubber/metal grommets. found out later that the oil came from the edge of the head, when you take off the valve cover, you'll notice that around the outside, theres oil. if you don't wipe that off before putting on the valve cover, it's going to look like you have at leak, but it's just really oil on the edges.
