Default Underdrive Pulleys

Not really looking for power gains, but am wondering how much of a difference I would notice with having the A/C on (and I have a small stereo setup). Right now I hate the feeling of how much power is lost when I put the A/C on, so I'm wondering if it's a worth while upgrade to have them installed.

Living in Texas, the A/C is a must for most of the year, that's the general reason for the question.

No one I've ever known has really experienced any noteworthy gains either on the butt dyno, or on the real dyno. Not on a relatively stock car by the way. Complete removal of the power steering system has historically resulted in a few more horses though.

Do a search. This has been covered many, many times. My opinion is that they're not worth the time/money unless you're trying to get every last bit of power out of your engine... there are better mods for the same money.

I'm not looking for power gains.

I'm asking on how much of a difference will I notice while driving with the A/C on or off. Everyone knows you lose a lot of power when the A/C is turned on, how much does underdrive pulleys help with minimizing that power loss. Is it a minimal effect, or does it feel like no loss at all, or what?

I have searched, every thread deals with people talking about power gains, or better brands, or whatever.

wat does the thread Underdrive pulleys have to do with a/c on or off....

Hmm, A/C seems to have a significant impact on my low-end torque evertime I turn it on. Keep in mind that for the most part, I keep my revs between 2k and 3.5k, I don't rev much higher than that for just regular driving, there's really no need to.

From what I know, underdrive pulleys reduce the effect how much power is lost when turning on the A/C and other electronic equipment. My question is how much of an effect is this. Will underdrive pulleys make a significant decrease in the loss of power when turning on the A/C, or is not worth the money (I'm not looking for power gains)?

depends on the amount of underdrive...typically underdrive pulleys are ~15%....but you can get more aggressive ones that underdrive 20-25%

i think most underdrive pulleys dont mess with the A/C. They just underdrive the alternator and power steering. I know when i got the pulleys for my accord it was just those two.

power loss of ac <power gain of replacing underdrive pulley...with a/c on loss will be around 1,2,3 hp but power loss of a/c is depending variable meaning it loss only if it's on....underpulley will reduce the loss of a/c while it on....but underdrive pulley is independing variable meaning it gains since the engine is on...and it never lose any hp

power gain of aftmarket underdrive pulley is around 4-6hp...depending on ur mods....

talking about replace lighter underpulley and refused to know about power gain then don't talk it about....

no it worth the money unless you got all other bolt on....such CAI, h/e/Im/tb then underpulley is worth at this time...
