accord replacment speakers
hey,
im trin' to take out my stock speakers and replace them with some Alpines, Sony's, or Pioneers...but im having a really hard time trin' to take off the speaker covers on the doors and in the back...are the covers bolted on to the door or are they just clipped on. If anyone knows how to take the speaker covers off the doors tell me, Or should i just have professionals install the speakers.?

they are clipped on pretty tight, if your speakers are any deeper than the oem ones, you are going to have a lot of trouble fitting them in your doors. as for pulling the door out, unscrew a screw underneath the doorhandle, and i believe one at the armrest, then take a flathead screwdriver, and slowly wedge out the door panel, clip by clip. it sucks putting them back on though, and make sure you dont lose any clips.
Yeah, the easiest way to replace the speaker is to remove the entire panel. It's not that hard though the speaker cover itself doesn't like being taken off and put back on. If your speaker is too deep for the door just use the foam padding (if it came with the speaker) and put it on the bottom edge of the speaker so it acts like a buffer (will give you some extra space) and will in turn compensate for the added depth of the speaker.
we put some speakers in a friends accord, and their depth were deeper than the actual accord allows, so what we did was take that black shell that sits behind the speak, using one of those art blade things or perhaps it was a box cutter, we cut out the center of it so the magnet for the speaker could fit through and it all worked out...
