i posted this in the rsx forum but there's not nearly as many people watching it and i figured someone here might know.

i just bought a wrecked '02 rsx-s and am putting the motor in my ek civic. this plug on the vtec solenoid (or whatever it is; the acura dealership calls it a spool valve) is broke and i'm wondering if i can take one off of a base model rsx (by the way, what is the engine code for the base model?) and use it on my k20a2?

the acura dealership said the had different part numbers so they're prolly not interchangable but they also come as a base with the brass colored piece. i know the base is different (base model has a black plug on the base piece and type s has a blue one) but what i wanna know is if i can take the brass piece off the base model head and put it on my type s? the solenoid itself has the same plug as the type s

 

mmmmm, so close to k power, i can almost taste it.

i would say yes, as long as the actual solenoid detaches from the brass piece youre good

 

anyone know for sure?
