Default Whisling sound on 01 accord 4cyl engine vtec

I am wondering if anyone have that "problem"

It aint a really a problem, but to my ears it doesnt sound too natural thats why im wondering if anyone had that on their car.. It start doing it around 1700 rpm and up, the engine has 72k kilometets,

I would think its the alternator, but i really aint sure about nothing..before i take off the belts to see if its an accessory i am wondering if anyone would have a clue

thanks!

I can't remember if they switched back to the break-away mirrors in 01" or not. If they did fold the mirrors in and drive the car to see if the noise goes away. The break-away mirrors are known to have a whisling sound that comes from them.

Maybe someone installed a turbo at your last oil change without you noticing?
Have you felt any odd bursts of massive torque while driving?

First, find out if it is speed dependent or engine rpm dependant. I know, you mentioned above 1700rpm, is that while driving? in neutral?
Next, I would localize the sound, is it near the belts? on the other side of the engine? front or back? course, you can't do this if the noise only happens when your moving.
Let us know.
my friend had a 98 v6 with a horridly loud grindy noise coming out of the alternator. If you put your head near it, you can pretty much locate where the sound is coming from. (don't wear a tie while doing this, and if you have long hair, please hold it back). After he got stranded a couple times with a dead battery, he replaced the alternator and had no more problems. (noise and electrical)
good luck

Do you have a intake on it? If so its your intake, my Accord use to whistle at about that RPM too. I dunno why it did it though. My 94 never did it but my 98 did.
