Default Hopefully picking up'88 CRX next week. What are your thoughts on getting more power

It's completely stock, and costing me under $1000!!! I want to do as much, if not all of the work myself (I am a big-time newb though). So my first thoughts were to stay N/A and don't swap out for a B. But, I'm gathering I'm not going to gain too many ponies unless I boost or swap. Boost is out. I have an '02 with the R.Hard kit. I couldn't do the swap myself (I do have friends to help out though).

I was planning on full interior weight reduction, roll cage, upgrade engine (internals, distributor, basic huge tune-up!!). Suspension upgrades. I plan on using it for auto-x.

SO, I'm looking for thoughts and ideas. Thanks guys.

If it's an si you could probably get it to be pretty quick without an engine swap but a dx or hf would probably be pretty hard. Unless you want to make it into a mini-me.

I don't think its an Si. The ad didn't mention it, neither did the owner. But I only walked around the car for a minute. I'll have to see.

You should do this to it, only costed $1,000 for the whole setup:

It'll be pretty darn fast with 300-350 whp in a lightweight CRX

Whoa!! THat's sweet. I don't know if I necessarily want huge power with this car. I have an '02 w/turbo and lots of other mods. I want to get more power, but I don't want to go huge (Not yet anyway). But for that price you mentioned, I could definitely change my mind. Plus, putting a turbo on an engine that has 160,000+ miles. . .Not too sure about that either. But excellent setup there nonetheless!!

160k Isn't too bad. As long as the previous owner took care of it well then the compression and bearings should still be good. I've seen people turbo their motors with 140k on the clock....

I could tell by the way he spoke on the phone, he didn't really want to sell it. "I've had this car forever, its been great to me, but the wife is Making me sell it." I'm guessing from the quick look I took at the car, and how he spoke, its probably been well taken care of. I'm still pretty against starting right off with a turbo. I actually just found a B18A for sale on a local board. Has over 70,000 miles on it. But I could probably get it for around $650 or so. I'm really not set on anything yet. Hell, I don't even have the friggin car yet!!

What kit is that (pictured above). And which engine. pardon my newbness.

And for the hell of it. http://www.ephatch.com/forum/s...46410
That's a link to my '02 EP.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the turbo setup. Not both, I could be wrong though.
