If you know the risk of parking your car somewhere, and the possibility that it could be stolen, even from your own garage? Why do you buy the car and not take the proper precautions? Seriously, a car with such a high profile for theifs, hundreds-thousands worth of work and parts, why would you not take the time and spend a little money to secure it? Yeah, you can't put it on jackstands and put it in a vault at the mall of movies, but you can buy a cheap car to beat on. What is a mere $0-$1,000 plus $30'ish/month compared to your car being left in a big parking lot at a big movie theatre in a huge city with tons of car theifs? Same goes for drive-ins in farm towns.
Also, when it does get stolen because you didn't take the initiative to secure your car (or secure it even more), why do post "horror stories" on forums seeking sympathy? Yeah, 1/50 theives might get busted and you get your car back intact, but don't you think someone smart enough to browse a forum, find you and your car, steal your car, chop it up, and get away with all of that be smart enough to sell those same parts on the same forum which happens to be the biggest thief-**** forum in the world?
Not singleing anyone out and if I offended you, sorry (thought there is more you could have done more than likely).

There are many many steps that can be taken, "layering security". Often times its overlooked, as you see me ask in every theft thread 'what preventative means did the car have?' Often times nothing but an alarm...
In the end, the fact is still strong that theres nothing you can do to stop it, only take steps and try to prevent it.
This is, while still keeping the car as what it should be, something that is driven.

tr00 that. If someone really wants your car, then nothing will prevent them from taking it - unfortunately

should you have to buy a beater car just to go into town? Why even have a nice car at all then?
We need stricter punishments for these *******, and some kind of reform in the use of lethal force for protection of property.

This is the deciding factor in the end. Make sure to do this, and take LOTS of pics, and keep a folder with reciepts

Beaters offer the best piece of mind. No worries about snow, salt, soccer moms dinging it, theft...
Not an R, but I still have full coverage on my Si, which has seen 1700 miles of use in the past 6 months. Can't be too careful...

Thats it!!!
If they knew I would shoot them with a shootgun from 10 feet I'm sure they would not attempt to steal my caR or If they knew that they will have to go to a work camp like digging new ditches on the sides of the hiway in Texas then I think they might not want to steal anymore.
I vote for stricter punishments for these ******* !
When can I vote

The whole point in buying this car was to be able to drive it and enjoy it, and by god i am going to do just that. People dont want to buy a beater and drive it around, they want their R, otherwise they would just drive the beater as a main car in the first place.
most, and i emphasize most, stolen posts arent looking for sympathy. They are looking for locals to keep an eye out for their car, and extended HT friends to keep an eye on EBAY, the classifieds, so on and so forth.
A lot of people do put theft prevention on their car. I hate seeing members grill each other by saying things like "They just had an alarm, or just an autolock". You can only do so much, I know i personally cant afford 10 different layers of security on my car. Anyone who has a problem with that, dont post if/when my car gets stolen, plain and simple.
Just in my opinion, take it or leave it, we should have stricter laws for attempted car theft/ or car theft. It just isnt necessary to have to own 2 cars just to keep one in your posession, and drive a shitty one around. Doesnt work that way. Also shouldnt be spending thousands of dollars on theft prevention, just to have your **** towed away. Basically in the end, theres not jack **** any one of us on this board can do besides rip the wheels off, put it on jackstands, lock it in your garage, etc. etc. And wheres the point in that>?

No offense but I'd be living my life in fear if I think like that.

I hate theives. If I catch one in my house I'm going to shoot and ask questions later.
I have it planned out, it's this simple:
[*] Theif comes[*] I shoot[*] I put knife and keys in theives hand[*] Call Cops[*] I say theif tried to kill me and take my car
I'm done. My R is sold.

I don't live my life in fear. I don't have an R, but I have enough on my car to get it stolen.
Full coverage insurance with pics and receipts, and layering give me a piece of mind, however after the next few things I do to it, I will probably buy a beater to drive in the winter/rain, gloomy days, and when going to big cities.
Where I live, theft is not a big problem and in the county I reside in 95% of all stolen cars are recovered (as of 2003). But if I had an R, I would definitely have a beater for everyday use. In my opinion, Acura built the Type R to be raced, not impress the girls around town.

If you're so worried about how other people are securing their R's, why don't you try and pass some laws to make it better for the rest of us, mmmkay?

Young grasshopper... you'll learn soon enough.
If someone wants to take it, they will take it no matter what. As much as it's a "nice" car, it's still only a car. Do you best to protect it, but don't lose sleep over it. There are more important things in life... yeah, for real, there are somethings more important than a car.

If someone cant afford to protect it in my opinion (and there are MANY cheap methods to layer the security and make it that much harder) then I wonder how they afford the rediculous insurance, the premium fuel and the car in the first place.
Many members have thousands of dollars in parts, and they're the ones that get grilled. For the thousands of parts in the car, the first thing that should be done is theft prevention. To me, and alarm is not theft prevention, its a device to annoy the theif, because its not going to do anything else.

My R is for weekend blast or go to office maybe once a week just for the thrill. I like solo runs so I don't have to hear my gf bitch on driving style.
Beater rules for peace of mind and better transport coworker and clients.
ever since justins car was stolen i have been paranoid. even in my own garage it gets it's own special lock down treatment. paranoia is a pretty good anti theft device. thieves aren't going to mess with a car that you constantly check up on at any given and random time.
