Wired up a new headunit, amp, speakers, but getting no sound?
Ok this is a customers car.
Head Unit:
Alpine CDA-9827
Speakers:
Alpine SPS-170A
Amp:
Alpine MRP-F240
Ok i used the old wiring harness from the old Alpine headunit that was in there, im getting power to the amp and wired up new wire from the amp to the speakers.
Only thing is that the amp doesnt put sound through to the speakers. I looked over everything and its all good, i looked through the amp manuel and cant figure out whats wrong. I hook up the speakers to the old speaker harness (which are still connected to the old wiring harness) and the speakers play.
How could i hook up the speakers to go through the amp and not the head unit. Is there a way? TIA!
If that didnt make much sense im sorry its, 2am and ive been picking my brain trying to figure this out for a good while.

even though it sounds stupid, double check all the dumb thinks that you would never think of that could be wrong.
check that you are pluged into the input instead of the output of the amp, i have seen alot of those amps (especially mtx) that are shipped with the gains turned all the way down, and also check your ground and voltage.
it is also possible that the amp or headunit is defective too.
goodluck with troubleshooting it.

Yea i checked all my wires and everything. I thought a couple times that my RC cables were in the wrong spot so i went through all the posssible different patterns nothing.
The head unit is good because when i hooked up the speakers to the old wires that was still connected to the unit they played.
I didnt check the gains but i will next time i see the customer. And im thinking the amp might be bad, ******* sucks.
Anything else it could be though?
Edit:
Should i disconnect the old speakers wires from the headunit harness or just leave them there?

what kinda wiring you have from unit to amp...? The way I understand you to explain it is that you have the old wiring harness from the old headunit and that is still wired to the speakers... when does the amp come in?? you ran new wires from amp to speakers, but what about head to amp. I know it sounds dumb, but just a thought.
There used to be a alpine headunit in the car and i just used the wiring harness from that to the headunit.
For the amp to the head unit i used RC wires and wired that up, then used a 12 or 14 (cant remember the size) wire from the Remote Turn on to the amp remote. Then for power i used a 8 gauge wire from the batt to the amp with a 25amp fuse. And for ground was a 10 gauge to the metal of the car. The amp has good power.
Then from amp to speakers there was this speaker connection plug that comes with 8 wires (+/- for each speaker) and i connected the speakers to that direct.
My friend said that Alpine headunits have a set up thing to make sound, and his going to stop by to look at it this weekend. Any other ideas of what it could be though? TIA

Yea, check and make sure you have the speakers wired to the aMp output and not the input, most Alpine amps that have a speaker pigtail, [plug with 8 wires] that is a speaker level INPUT
