B18c1 All motor... How much oil should i be burning for 1,000 miles of constant driving?
I just took a road trip in my b18c1 built motor for a little over 1000 miles(70-75 mph for over 12 hrs) of constant driving and burned alot of oil. I checked the oil stick the moment i got home(got home, popped the hood and checked.) Should I have waited for it for the oil to settle? I would say about a whole quart oil was gone. When i got back from the trip i poured in a whole quart and it was back and the original mark on the oil stick. Something could be wrong unless this is normal for long road trips. Any info anyone?

nope not normal...1qt? no....oil leak? are u using synthetic...you check right away or what....let the engine cool down and oil settle for accurate checking precision...
you're on catless or wat..cuz catless does burn little more...does ur backbumper has any carbon deposit since u have the car?

I dont think it usually matters wether its 1000 miles on a the streets or 1000 miles on the expressway. You shouldn;t be burning any oil. Check for leaks, and have someone watch your exhaust while you drive to look for signs of smoke.
My 12.5:1 gsr motor never lost any oil at all after a 850 mile road trip, or even after the following 2500 miles before i changed the oil..

None. You only lose oil if something is wrong.
worn valve seals, bad oil pan gasket, hole in the oil pan, loose oil pan plug, etc.

I'll have to go give it a check for leaks and stuff. The motor has about 3000 miles on it till this day.

Yes, checked right away. Im running an LS cat. Before the road trip it had something that looked like carbon dripping out of exhaust, but it went away after some FPR adjustments. I'm running Castrol 5w-30 since thats about the best oil they had for my car since they were out of stock of the good oils.

I recently changed my oil pan because my oil pump went out so I changed all the gaskets that were needed to be changed while changing the oil pump.
A leak down test would tell me alot about the motor correct? How much would a mechanic shop charge for one?

well testing is alway recommend....i dont know about pricing you can call several places and ask make sure you tell them what you have replaced and wat going on...and most importantly is the quality of work from the shop itself.
Acording to Honda, 1 quart per 800 miles is considered normal. I've seen a lot of the 97&^ Preludes come in for oil loss and no leaks found, but the customer says it looses 1 quart every 1000 miles and Honda will not warranty it unless it uses more than 1 quart in 800 miles. I'm not saying there is nothing wrong with your car but if it is not smoking or leaking then I would just keep it full and not worry too much about it.
