friend of mines trying to get rid of this 90 si mint condition no title
i have a ls vtec b16 tranny lying around so shoyuld i get it or no

and if yes how do i recover the title

Talk to DMV.
if it's not stolen they can put some sort of lein hold on it and you'll get a new pink for it not much later.

My dad had to do it when he bought an old Citroen some guy had parked in his garage. The VIN didn't match the pink when he bought it so DMV took care of it.

 

Well the only way to get a title is to file for abandon vehicle or lost title. And if you can't get a title you can get creative like hot rod guys do. If you are going to make it into a track car no worries but I would be careful as you may end up with a stolen car

 

If it is your friend, then he should be honest whether it is stolen or not. I wouldn't worry about that. Just get it.

if you have a car with no title, it isnt hard to get one. it only takes 4 steps. (1) strip the car, take the engine electronics, the ecu, the doors the drivers seat, the hatch if it has one, the speedo, anything that you can esaily take off of it. and take shoe polish or a grease marker and write "bad trans" or "rod knock" on the windshield. (2) park the car on a city street and call it is as a junked car, the city will come and get it. (3) wait for it to come up on the city impound auction. buy it. they will issue a salvage title for the car. it is a CLEAN title. (4) take it home, put the parts back on, and drive it like you stole it. you did. it works EVERY time. a clean title is a clean title. salvage smalvage. get pics of it in its stripped state and after pics and your friends and family will think you are a friggin hard working genius for all of the work you did to get it back together.

i have had about 14 pms since i said free motor lol um ill let you guys know by sunday if its still here gotta let my people know first

ill let it go for not quite for free but trades are welcome no cash i dont think its worth cash (sohc suck in my opinion)

why not tell dmv the story, and see what they will do for you. if it is a truthful story then im pretty sure they will work for u. as long as the car doesnt come up stolen.

agreed.....the mods should delete that posting and lock the thread...

 

titles get lost, Distroyed. people die. people dont pick up there cars from mechs. but from what I hear only Mechs\Tow shops\ people with the right licenses can do it. only thing I THINK you can do, is do the Write a Certified letter to the Address of the origional Owner and wait 30 days.

My talon was somewhat in the same situation. The dude droped it off to get fixed, and never picked it up, so bam 2500 doller car for 200 bucks.


BUT BEFORE YOU BUY IT! Get the tital Situation done first, cause if that dude Respondes in those 30 days, ur out ur money.
