I'm not so sure an airhorn is the best thing for brake ducts. The geometry is to let air be sucked in better, at the inlet of a TB or carb, not a brake duct. The duct should be placed in a high-pressure area, like right at the front of the car. Like the post above listed, just get the assemblies from RPW.

This is the Fab Forum.

Grease a hard mold (or I've also seen a large socket used)

Hydraulic press a pipe over mold.

Geoff, i'm sure the stacks you use are the best way to do it, but what are the differences between yours and the full bell style that twm uses? Educate me.

what is actually kind of interesting is that you get two options, both of which have diminishing returns/exponential decay behavior.

There are two compromises you need to make -- one is laminar flow (quality of the flow), the other is the mass flow rate. You can acheive a higher mass flow rate (the full lip is about 4% higher flow) with a poorer quality flow. By using this radius style we were able to get a high rate, but the flow is much more laminar, coupled with the runner shape which increases pressure with almost no increase in turbulence.

The lack of turbulence makes the flow extremely high pressure at the port inlet.

Of course, we do not yet know what will work, but this is what all of our research led us to believe.

I really wonder why TWM really doesnt use a conical shape in their runners?

edit: tony -- looks like someone's all motor mazda (assuming??) has the same runner shape, interesting coincidence!

That all makes sense. I've seen it done both ways and just didn't know which was better and why. Thanks.

also, i was just thinking that on an ITB setup, it probably doesnt matter how turbulent the air is at the top of the horn, becuase it hits the butterfly anyway, so the more air the better, regardless of turbulence before the throttle plate. On a plenum/single TB setup, theres nothing to distrub flow in teh runner, and based purely on a generously sized plenum, the mass of flow should be there, and cleaning it up is key... i am a slacker and still have not gotten you those copies, i swear i will come thru soon!!!

Geoff, I would be interested in the same information. As far as sizing, I'm looking for overall length, runner outlet diameter, and maximum diameter of the bell mouth.
Thanks

hey guys, I'm looking for velocity stacks that go down to 1.5 inched OD and around 2 inches OD.

I though it was interesting how one of you guys made them, are there any cruxial measurements or angles or anything that would be important to consinder when making them?
