Ok, thanks to a couple other peaople, I may have an idea about what's causing it, but I'm still curious as to how many other people have had this problem. My 2001 ITR with only about 8400 miles on it just cuts off after the engine gets good and warmed up. Upon pulling a plug, I found I have no spark, until the engine cools down again. No codes are being thrown, and the distributer cap/rotor looks good.. Anybody else have this happen? Any ideas? Any help is appreciated.

 

sounds like the ignitor. I never saw a car so new with one go bad, so i dunno. Also could be the coil...

 

uh, warranty?

 

I suspect it's got a "few" miles "at speed".

 

Yep, thanks guys.. It's had a lot of fun on track, so premature ignitor or coil failure may be due to that.. Anyway to determine which one of these it could be?(way to rule out one or the other?)

 

I don't have the manual at hand, but wouldn't there be some way to check the resistance or continuity of the ignitor.
If necessary, I can go home and get the manual...and see if there are the appropriate trouble shooting tips for this symptom.
