i am not clear on what you question is?

are you asking why they classify the s2k as an extreme sports car, or

are you asking why your insurance is going to be high because you are 18?

The S2k is not "classified" as an extreme sports car. The fact that it is a convertible and not a hard-top coupe, actually lessens the insurance right there.

But, since you are only 18, expect insurance rates to be in upwards of $2800/year, depending on your driving record.

well when i got my insurance i was 20 had only one year with my license. The S2000 is consider a sports car because the car only has 2 seat. Coupes usually have 2 doors but front and back seats. i.e Infinty G35. Also the fact that is convertible increses the insurance. Do to the danger if flipping the car over the best way to go about is to get the insurance under some one whos had a lot of years driving and is older. Then they just can add you a user or driver and you would still be covered under the insurance is somethng happens. Trust thats how i have it, wreched my car and got paid in full for it.
