Bad front or rear main seal?!?!?!
Hey everyone. I just got a quick question. Theres a oil leak under my car but its really hard to tell where its coming from. I'm trying to pinpoint where the leak is but im hoping its just the oil pan gasket. Well, my question is what is the symptom of a bad front or rear main seal? Will it leak slowly? because i heard someone say that oil will be gushing out if its bad or something. Thanks for the help.
P.S. I got a 93 Prelude Si... and what is that thing, about an inch, under the oil filter? It has like a rubber boot over it and its directly under the oil filter?

Intermediate shaft?
Intermediate shaft?
the rate of the leak depends on the condition of the seal. The rear main could be slightly deteriorated and leak slowly or it could be FUBAR'ed and leak fast.
Where is leak coming from? You should figure that out, before trying to determine the seal thats bad.
good luck

i dont really know where exactly is the leak coming from. the pan seems to be a little wet along with the tranny. It seems to be coming from the back of the pan/between the rear main seal. The problem is that it leaks so slow that its hard to pinpoint where it is coming from. I got like ~ 6 drops of oil under my car after 3 days... you guys think its the seal? how hard is it to change it anyways?
