Default No luck finding Rebuild kit

Looking for a rebuild kit for 88 dx hatch and I’m having trouble finding and identifying a rebuild kit that will actually work what are the main sizes of the rings/bearing and should I go oversized pistons and get the block machined? Aswell as haven’t been able to find connecting rods besides maxspeeding rods are they decent enough for a daily?(will be going multi port at the time of the rebuild also)

what is the goal, other than an MPFI upgrade?

is compression low, burning oil, rod knock, ect? does it NEED a rebuild?

If I just wanted a fresh engine that ran like new and kept the driveway clean, I would look for a re-ring kit like ENGINETECH RMHO15AP, rockauto has it for $117.

without measuring the cylinder wear and bearing wear, and assuming no rod knock or other obvious external sign of extreme wear, I would plan on the standard bearings and rings, reuse the pistons and rods (if no power adders). hit it with a ball hone and measure the deck and cylinder head flatness, then have them skim-cut if out of spec.

the car has 328k miles on it so I think it’s just time for a rebuild, one of the reasons is my dumbass gave it a misfire by taking the distributor off trying to replace a sensor not knowing what it really did and I know it’s an easy fix I’ve just been driving on it for a couple months, but the other day on my way to work I was cruising around 50-55 and then the car just cut out and then a couple miles later it lost all power and wouldn’t move but didn’t shut off, I think it’s a fuel issue that’s why I’m doing the mpfi swap but figured if I can scrape together a rebuild kit and refresh everything it will just give me more confidence in the car and I’ll know everything is in working order and won’t have to worry about that stuff can move on to fixing/replacing other parts of the car.
I haven’t torn the engine apart yet since a rebuild isn’t necessary at the moment but it’s something I’ve been eyeing for a while just struggling to atleast find a kit if I do pull the trigger on doing it.
