I’m so confused it’s stamped ZC but it has a SOHC black valve cover so when I purchased it I automatically assumed it was a d16 whatever

is that last picture you posted your engine? that is an OBD0 non-VTEC SOHC ZC (if it says ZC on the block) with the stock DPFI intake manifold from the 88-91 Civic/CRX DX model - it is not MPFI - probably started out as a dual carb SOHC ZC - does it run?

this is the DOHC ZC (MPFI)

ZC stamped motors came in many different flavors. It's not just DOHC 1.6L d16A9. ZC was also stamped on SOHC and VTEC engines.

If it's SOHC and no VTEC, it could either have been carbureted or MPFI. The obvious difference will be an open port (or already blocked off plate) in the back closer to the distributor side. The cams are slightly different, and the MPFI is nearly identical to the d16A6.

Either way, the choice of intake is freely up to you and what you already have or whatever will bolt on just like a d15 can be converted to MPFI.

Transmissions will bolt on the same just like any typical D series.

ZC means 1.6 liter D series.
