Jesus this thread doesn't move for days sometimes and I step out for a bit and it picks up 4 or 5 pages.

Congrats Reyes. Tim drive the E30. Not questions asked, do it. If you get that kid in a cart soon enough he will totally understand. Prob pull a Tim later in life too.

I think ESPN actually had less commercials compared to NBC but no recap after a break sucks (evidenced by me asking WTF happened to SIR).

Falcon, CRV needs a spiltter. Load enough downforce on the front and you can drift around the cloverleaf. Prob carry moar speed around it and put on a show at the same time.

Not sure what FI is bitching about. What Haas did is within the rules. Maybe they mad cause they didn't buy large portions of W08?

I think that covers most of the 4 pages...

Which Watkins Glen configuration? Have a birthday party in the paddock or parking lot at Watkins Glen. Saw a kid blow out candles on his birthday cake at Buttonwillow one time. I think when your kid gets older it'll demand more of your time so go race and don't have regrets about not racing. And put a happy birthday message and an I love you Mrs Tim on the car.

The Glen boot layout is awesome. Wish they could bring back F1 to it without totally Tilkefying it.

My K series coils have been livin at 500whp for years. My wife's GC8 eats coil pack like they are donuts. Every 2 years you can count on misfire/stumbling returning. Replace the coil pack and it stops. I've cleaned all the grounds, checked the wiring, replaced the plug wires and plugs.

At first I was buying good, OEM coils. Those bastards aren't cheap. Now I buy the Autozone guaranteed for life coils packs. That way I only have to pay for every other one. It's annoying and hers isn't the only GC8 doing it.

On GC8 the coil pack sits on top of the intake. Heatsoak city. It's one large pack not 4 individual coils.

Looks like dis

you can't see the face i'm making but it's like when you smell someone else's fart. i've lost too many hours of my life to coil packs going bad. not as much as you probably, but at least you're getting good at it right?

When this all started going on I was losing my mind. I even said to my wife, it can't be the coil pack. It's 2 years old. That's when I started chasing wires and cleaning grounds, replacing wires and plugs. I finally gave up and replaced the coil and the stumbling/misfiring/shitty idle went away. I chalked it up to a bad coil. So that's when I tried an AZ lifetime coil.

Little over 2 years later it returned, but was slightly different. Idle was fine but it would randomly have a weird stumble. Mileage was doing really good (it got really shitty before) so I didn't think ignition system. Started hunting all the usual suspects then finally gave up and replaced the coil. Back to working perfectly.

Most recent coil change was 2 months ago, 22 left.

Edit- The good thing about them is they are on top of the engine. Pop hood, right there. 3 10 mm bolts, unplug the connector and 4 plug wires. Takes 3 min to replace.

I've been watching the ITV F1 2007 reruns and...wow. I remember 2007 through the SPEED TV lens. These ITV fanbois were something else. No juander Ferdy was ultra paranoid. If you listened/watched the British press, you'd be the same way.

In fairness, HAM was super legit that year. But his interviews with Steve Rider were cringy AF. yeow.

But I keep watching this slow train wreck...

It's addicting. Waiting for the wheels to fall off moment. When is Hungary? Too bad they don't show Q too lol.

Hungary on right now. About to send off.

I forgot that Alonso's win in Germany ("European") was the week before. The highs and lows were all together.

To be fair, Fred has made a ton of small mistakes all season.

But I remember why I never liked Ham after watching this.

I wish birds would stop shitting on my car after I wash it.

I assume you mean when it's at work our out and about. You have a garage, right?

Funny thing is if Fred had just not held up HAM in Hungary he wood have been champ peen. Of course that assumes errything after Hungaroring madness wood have stayed the same. Hindsight is 20/20...

Nick/Reyes, what am I missing here?

as you increase rollbar stiffness that allows more force to be applied to the inside tire to try to match what's happening on the outside. so the inside tire starts to get "loaded up" through the ARB. "loaded up" means compressing the inside suspension. not pressing it down into the pavement more. this is how it tries to keep the car level.

i think it's just worded too simply. one of those things that you just gloss over if you already understand it or don't understand it at all.
Probably too late but I'll jump in here.... A stiffer ARB reduces the weight transfer at the OPPOSITE end of the car.

Body roll and weight transfer are two different things that are mostly unrelated. The very slight CG shift when the chassis rolls to one side is the only way that amount of body roll is related to weight transfer. You could have welded suspension, with 0.0 degrees of body roll, and the weight transfer from inside to outside is going to be roughly the same.

the stiffness of suspension at one end relative to the other is how the weight transfer is controlled. The total weight transfer from left to right in a left turn is pretty much always the same given the same weight / radius / speed / etc. The question is, how much of the weight transfer is supported by one end of the car vs the other, and that is controlled the different suspension rates at one end of the car vs the other.

In a left turn for example, the stiffer the suspension is in the right rear, the more weight will stay on the FRONT LEFT. Think of a table that has slightly uneven legs.... you stuff some sugar packets under one leg to put the weight back on the opposite corner.

static car wheel load:
500 500
500 500

Left turn
100 900
100 900

Stiffen up the right rear (put a few sugar packets under the right rear of the table)
200 800
000 1000

Stiffer right rear takes more load when the car turns. Total weight transfer left to right stays the same, but the stiffer right rear keeps the front left more loaded. Less weight transfer up front, more in the rear. More grip up front, less in the rear, and your EK lifts a wheel.
