Default Frame damage

Total loss, repairable but expensive, or a rope a tree and a slide hammer?

Where's the frame? All I see is a Unibody.

Also, I just posted a series of pics of me repairing my core support and hood. Getting it to a "good enough" state took less than 2 hours.

edit: my damage was the same as yours.

Used with this: Steck 20099 Tool - Body Shop Tools

And a couple of hammers.

Well **** I took it for a estimate and they said their was frame damage. But to be honest I’m not too experienced with things like this.

CX Adam what’d you do to bend it back? I’m just worried about getting the fender and headlight to line up.

The story was that I was getting on the freeway, a one lane on ramp. When I turned onto the ramp there was a a spun out Porsche towards the end, then a Jeep Cherokee a good amount back from the Porsche he was totally stopped. In the middle of the ******* ramp. As soon as I hit him before I could even get out the car he backed up and drove off. So yeah.

EDIT: So basically with those two tools you didn’t even need to use a tree? Just use your own force to bend it back?

No tree. The tool provides the leverage you need. Pull in the direction opposite of what caused the damage and hammer the flattened seams. If I had to guess, I applied 50 lbs of force on the bar to pull out my damage.

It's also common to put a block behind the metal bumper bar to space it forward when the car "frame" is pushed back slightly.

The apron is toast. I can't see the frame rail but it looks like all the damage is above it. Worst case it got swayed over or up/down but can be pulled back into place on frame bench.

To fix the apron damage it should be pulled back into place as well as possible, then removed and replaced. This involves removing seam sealer and drilling out a bunch of spot welds, welding on the replacement apron and replacing the seam sealer. Very repairable but unless you live in a area where it's very hard or expensive to find a clean shell I'd probably just suggest finding another shell.

But do you think I could get away with using the tools posted above to possibly pull it out and get the headlight and fender to fit? I mean I want it to fit ok, but I’m sure there’s gonna be a nasty gap. And the car actually drives fine.

And if I did get it repaired by a body shop what would be a reasonable price? I got a quote for $2198 and it’s supposed to just go up from there. They basically explained what they would do the same way you did.

So I got a carbon fiber hood for it and now the hood only hits the first latch. As if I just popped it. Should I get a new hood latch or can I delete the latch and just run pins?

From a safety standpoint pins alone would be fine.

I know with my carbon fiber hood I had to actually modify my hood latch somewhat and extend it past it's normal most up-most point in order for it to close the gap completely between the hood and front bumper. I just grinded the channels down further on the hood latch so I had more room to slide it upwards.

I had to do this a little when I had to "fix" my damage. OP, you've got the bump stops you can adjust, and you can adjust the latch position.

Yeah I forgot to mention I tried adjusting by the latch, and by the hood. Tbh it’s pretty disappointing, guess I’ll be looking at pins. But anywho. What did you guys use to restore your carbon fiber hoods? Just a cut and buff?

Did you lengthen the slots for the height adjustment on the latch, though?
