Indeed! I'm moving from a turtle to a pony for my next race.
It has a few mods doe. I believe they call that a Thundertang or a Mustbird or something. T-tang? Who knows...It has t-bird parts in it. Rear end gear, brakes, yadda yadda. Laptimes were about the same as the turtle last year.
One of our guys couldn't make the race and the team wasn't interested in finding a reserve driver (like Booley), so I'm whoring myself out. I got the itch to get back to NJMP.
Not sure why it's plaid. Team name is Schumacher Taxi Service. If I was in charge of the theme I'd say paint it up like a 95 benetton and have a stuffed driver suit on the roof to look like Alesi.

I need to get my *** some seat time so I can ***** myself too. Paying for the privilege of being a *****.
Just make a post on a forum about wanting to drive and say you have plenty of HPDE experience. No one is going to check.
I'd never done an HPDE, auto-x - anything - other than a few kart races and drag races before I drove my first lemons race. There's a chumpcar (now champcar) race at COTA every year too. That race costs a bit more than the others since they can't run yuge car counts doe. But if you're driving a p-car I'm sure you can swing it.
this worries me when 5M people try to sign up before the race and NOTHING works.
i really expected a dry run of the CDN during the 2nd practice test. expect bugs.
same **** happened with the official F1 app a few years ago. i paid for a 1 year subscription and it literally never worked.
Yeah honestly I don't see them even being able to roll it out for the first race...gonna have to be stuck with DVR'ed ESPN coverage

I might take you up on a driving offer one of these days once I get some free time. Two is IMPOSSIBLE. Don't know how people do it. We stayed in a hotel with the two kids last weekend and only got like 3 hours of sleep each night because the baby kept crying and waking the 3 year old up. It was a nightmare.

You will never have free time. I know I don't - at least not to do a car build from scratch. With 1 it's not so bad. One parent has the baby the other gets a break... not anymore. My wife talks about having a third and I;m like - woman - are you nuts? I don't know how people have 3 or more and I was the youngest of 4.
No other fam around, Dad worked full time. Mom didn't go back to work until I went to kindergarten - and that was part time. Full Time when I went to elementary, and by then my oldest sibling was 13.

To be fair, that was a Bernie run attempt, so I'm sure they'll actually try to make this successful by resourcing it properly*.
I'm definitely going to continue on my current process until I can rely on other methods. Commercial ESPN hack jobs will not due. Good thing the time zone's for OZ make replays easy to find and obtain first thing when I get up SAT/SUN.
*it's still gonna be fuct up.

wow. that's... scary/awesome. Consumables are a bit pricey in the P-car, so I'll just get my Civic safe-ish and HPDE that a couple times. There's an outdoor kart track probably 45min from me that I need to scope out too. Central Texas Karting or something like; they run shifters and fun ****.
To be fair, everybody on the team knew that I was green and so was my buddy that joined at the time. (I might have played up my kart experience a bit) What mattered was that we were willing to do it and didn't flinch at the price tag. Was like $800 ish each all-in for the first race. No ragrats.
TBH, I was a little apprehensive about joining a team with nobody I know for this upcoming race, but I really liked the track and didn't feel like waiting a year to maybe do it again. And f*ck building a car (my old integra would be perfect) and then trying to find 3 unknowns to race with.
I would encourage anyone thinking about doing this to race with an established team first before trying a new build.
