On twitter Alonso said they turned up the power on the PU a bit for that run.
Based on the fastest runs Botfly did and the delta between the compounds Botfly would be around 1:16.4 on the HS.

Interesting read: https://f1metrics.wordpress.com/2018...ason-analysis/
I read a Google translated Auto motor Und Sport article on the McLaren, that basically said "it's too complicated and everything takes too long to happen because it's too complicated".
I read that to mean good thing we ditched the Honda cause they'd be cooking them again.

i do not despair for this season. ferrari went aggressive on the chassis and once it sorts out the high rake setup they will be formidable. but the point is taken. merc just has to show up every weekend while the rest of the field develops and strategizes over reliability
apparently the renault engine can match the merc/ferrari in output briefly but the teams have to run them conservative to last 17 races or whatever the frick
LMP2 engine argh

Indycar rant: I saw the last half of the race in St. Pete. Wickens, an Indycar rookie, was the guy to beat all day. Weird safety car restart with 2 laps to go and Rossi makes run, loses it under braking into T1, hits Wickens putting him into the wall, Rossi finishes 3rd.
Here's why Indycar is a joke; that lunge/dive, which is all fair and good, didn't stick, and the took the leader out. Imagine that sort of thing in F1. Last comparable example I can remember was Nico v Ham in Austria (2016?), and people lost their damn minds (rightfully IMO). In Indycar, its like meh shrug whatever OF COURSE Rossi wrecked him HE HAD TOO. Rossi braked too late on the marbles and lost the car. Wickens pinched Rossi inside, and left him enough space to be inside on T1. Tough and fair. But Rossi is innocent of a crash he created because there was space? That's the standard to set? Puh-lease. I'll pass.
